🚗 Miles Traveled: Approximately 260 miles
(London → Birmingham → Manchester → Birmingham)

I'm off lecturing duty this week—it's reading week, which means I get to pretend I'm productive while actually avoiding emails. So, naturally, I thought I'd cram in as many gigs as possible.
Lately, I've been driving so much that I think I might be developing a deep, personal relationship with my car. We’ve been through a lot together: endless roadworks, satnav betrayals, and the heartbreak of spotting a parking space only to realise it’s permit holders only.
To save my sanity (and possibly my driving licence), my comedy promoter and close mate, Altaf, and I have come up with a plan. I drive from London to Birmingham, then he takes over for the Birmingham-to-Manchester leg and back. Then I’m back on the wheel for more gigs in Birmingham. It’s like a relay race, but instead of a baton, we’re passing around a desperate need for coffee.
You don’t realise how quickly the miles add up. I genuinely don’t understand how Uber drivers do this every day. I’ve been suffering from road rage, road depression, and an overwhelming sense of injustice every time I get a parking ticket.
On the plus side, at least all this driving gives me time to reflect on life, my career, and whether I should just start doing gigs exclusively within walking distance of my house.
